- “Document is not tagged” – The PDF has no structure; unreadable for screen readers. Automatically in DokAudit: auto-tagging creates the structure (multi-column layouts via AI structure recognition, scans after OCR) – then check the reading order. Cleanest of all: export the source document correctly (Word guide) or have DokAudit convert the Word file.
- “Title missing / not displayed” – No document title, or the file name is displayed. Fixable automatically.
- “Natural language undefined” – The language is missing; the screen reader has to guess between German and English. Fixable automatically.
- “PDF/UA identifier missing” – The conformance identifier is missing from the metadata. Fixable automatically – but, to be credible, only if everything else passes.
- “Alternative description missing (Figure)” – An image without alt text; affected users only hear “graphic”. AI proposal plus human approval in DokAudit.
- “Figure element without bounding box” – An image without position information in the structure. Fixable automatically (the position is calculated).
- “Font not embedded” – The font is missing from the PDF, other computers substitute it incorrectly. Fixable automatically for standard fonts.
- “TR element may contain only TH and TD” / table errors – broken table structure, unclear cell assignment. Common cases fixable automatically; complex tables: simplify the source document.
- “Link annotation without Contents” – A link without a description. Fixable automatically.
- “Tagged text consists of only whitespace” (warning) – empty tagged paragraphs, an export artefact. Untidy, but not an obstacle to conformance – don’t let 300 warnings scare you.
Rule of thumb: of the ten classics, DokAudit fixes eight automatically and one with AI support. DokAudit adds missing tagging automatically (multi-column layouts via AI) – what you should check afterwards is the reading order and complex tables; the cleanest solution remains the source document.
